20.03.2026 | Design win for Area 19 at Eindhoven University of Technology

We are proud to be part of the winning team for Area 19 at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), together with KAAN Architecten and De Zwarte Hond.

The project combines the design of a new research and education building with the transformation of a key campus area. Rooted in the original masterplan by Sam van Embden, the proposal continues the strong spatial logic of the campus while opening it up for new forms of use and interaction.

For IDEFIX, landscape is the structuring layer of the campus. Our design plays a key role in shaping Area 19 as an inviting and cohesive environment, building upon the strong existing spatial and landscape framework. By reinforcing and extending these foundational elements, we strengthen the original campus idea and enhance its clarity and coherence.

A connected network of green spaces links the campus to the Dommel valley, encouraging movement, encounter and biodiversity. This approach creates a robust yet flexible framework that accommodates change over time and supports a dynamic academic environment.

Sustainability and adaptability are embedded in the design. Conceived as a resilient system, the landscape contributes to a future-proof campus that can evolve with changing needs.

We look forward to developing this project further together with Eindhoven University of Technology and the entire team.
